Since our charter in August of 1920 , less than a year after Congress granted the American Legion a National Charter in September, 1919, Columbia American Legion Post 581 has been welcoming Veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all veterans and military personnel currently serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble above.
American Legion Post 581 meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall, 375 E. Locust in Columbia, IL N 38° 26.814 / W 090° 11.825

Our Lounge is open every Wednesday to all from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m with Full Bar Service and a Lunch Special from 11:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.. Come in with some friends, enjoy a social afternoon, and get to know us.
